Khan is one of Bollywood’s most decorated actors. Received 14 Filmfare Awards from 30 nominees and special awards, comprising eight Best Actor is heavily tied to the section with Dilip Kumar. Khan won Baazigar's Filmfare Best Actor award, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (, Dil To Pagal Hai Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (, Devdas Swades , Chak De! India and my name is Khan. In one case, he collected a nomination amount of up to three of the five nominations for Filmfare Best Actor.
Although he has never won a National Film Award, he was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2005. The French government has granted both Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the fifth degree of the French Legion of Honor, the Chevalier Légion d'honneur . Khan received five honorary doctorate degrees; the first came from The University of Bedfordshire in 2009, the second came from The University of Edinburgh in 2015, the third came from Maulana Azad National Urdu University in 2016, and his latest from The University of Law and La Trobe University in 2019.
